Jason Goldman-Petri

Title

Director of Racquets

Jason Goldman-Petri brings more than 20 years of experience in tennis, player development, and club leadership to his role as Director of Racquets at The Suburban Club. His career has included leadership roles with BlueChip Sports Management, Champion Tennis Academy, IMG Academy, ClubCorp, and Stevenson University. In these roles Jason has coached internationally and nationally ranked players, developed high-performance programs, built coaching teams, and directed comprehensive junior and adult racquets programs.

Jason is a USPTA and USPTR Certified Tennis Professional, USPPR Certified Pickleball Professional, USTA High Performance Coach, iTPA Certified Tennis Performance Specialist, and PTR Master of Tennis in Performance. He is also the author of Tennis Circuitry and a published contributor to TennisPro Magazine. Jason is passionate about developing exceptional racquets programs that provide meaningful experiences for players of every age and ability level, and he looks forward to building upon The Suburban Club’s strong tradition while delivering an outstanding experience for its members.

Ross Coleman

Head of Junior Development

As a former playing professional and now a teaching professional for over 30 years, I continue to gain an understanding of what it takes to develop each individual to reach their greatest potential. Whether a player's goal is to attain a national ranking or make their high school team, my students learn that tennis is more than just skills, coordination, and winning. My commitment is to challenge each student to reach beyond being a great tennis player and become the best person they can be on and off the court.

Jim Laitta, USPTR

Title

Head of Adult Development

Jim has more than 25 years of teaching and coaching experience. Before coming to Suburban Club, Jim had coached collegiately at Mississippi State, The Ohio State University, and nineteen years at the University of Maryland, where he was the head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs. Currently, Jim is Head of Adult Development here at The Suburban Club. He is also the volunteer men’s tennis coach at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis. In addition, Jim offers private, semi-private as well as group lessons. Jim is also active in the summer Hawk-Eye Tennis Camp program.

Justin Carter

Title

Assistant Coach

As a junior, Justin was ranked number 1 in the Mid-Atlantic 12s –18s. He played for the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he played number 1 and 2 in singles and doubles all four years. Justin was Player of the Year in The America East Conference his sophomore year. When not coaching and teaching at The Suburban Club, Justin is an Assistant Coach at Morgan State University. Sophie Chang

Assistant Coach

Born and raised in the Baltimore area, Sophie is a WTA Pro Tennis player and Hawkeye Tennis Alumna, having trained throughout her junior and professional tennis career at the Suburban Tennis Club with Director of Tennis Ross Coleman. Currently on break from the competitive tour, she is excited to bring her professional expertise to her home club. Tennis has been her lifelong sport, and Sophie feels strongly that the Suburban community that has supported her as she chased her dreams is her family. Megan Etionne

Assistant Coach

Megan joins The Suburban Club as one of our newest Assistant Coaches, bringing energy and a strong competitive background to the team. Originally from the Boston area, Megan played Division 1 tennis at Coppin State University, where she competed as the program's #1 singles player. She went on to complete the USTA National Campus Summer Fellowship, training alongside top-tier USTA coaches and gaining hands-on experience in player development. Megan also brings experience coaching young players, having run a 10 & Under program during her time in Boston. She holds both her USTA Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Certifications and is excited to bring her passion for the game to members of all ages and skill levels here at Suburban.

Lauren Wunderlich

Pickleball Pro

Lauren Wunderlich is our new Pickleball Pro, a native of Baltimore, MD, Lauren brings a lifetime of athleticism and a passion for teaching to the pickleball court. After discovering pickleball in August of 2023, she quickly picked up the sport, earning her Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) certification. Lauren has been a certified instructor since December of 2023, combining her love for sports with her commitment to education. She emphasizes the importance of off-court training and built-in rest and recovery days, as key factors in improving on-court performance, developing strength, and building resilience. Lauren is committed to helping her students develop both their technical skills and mental confidence, empowering them to play their best and enjoy the game to its fullest.
