Chris Carpenter

Title

Head Golf Professional

Chris Carpenter began his professional career at Chestnut Ridge CC in 1997. Before coming to The Suburban Club he spent 15 years as a teaching professional at Hayfields CC and has taught all skill levels of golfers. He is also a past qualifier for both the Maryland and Pennsylvania Opens. Chris’s love of golf began before he was 7 years old, hitting balls in a field in Upper Marlboro, Md. He grew up playing junior golf in York County, Pa as a member of Bon Air CC before graduating from Penn State with a degree in Astrophysics. When he is not at Suburban Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children, coaching soccer, and stargazing with his telescopes.

Mark Evenson, PGA

Title

Director of Instruction

Mark became a golf professional in 1990, playing the Nike Tour and other mini-tours. His first club professional job was at Congressional Country Club in 1992. He became the teaching professional at Rolling Road Golf Club in 1993, and joined the Suburban Club staff in 1997.

Blake Murphy

Golf Course Superintendent

Blake grew up in Baltimore, MD, and his passion for turf management began while working on the grounds crew at Woodholme Country Club in high school. After graduating from Gilman Blake earned his B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Maryland. While attending UMD Blake worked summer internships on golf courses in Maryland, South Carolina, Arizona and New York. After graduating he worked as the Assistant Superintendent at Country Club of Maryland in Towson, MD and Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, VA. Blake was hired as the Golf Course Superintendent at The Suburban Club in 2005. Blake enjoys spending time with friends and family, following the local sports teams and unwinding at a family cabin in Pennsylvania.

David Corley

Title

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

David grew up in Corriganville, MD where he worked on the grounds crew at Cumberland Country Club while in high school. David earned his B.S. in Plant Science from the University of Maryland and interned at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Upon graduating David was hired as the 2nd Assistant Superintendent at Hillendale Country Club. After two years at Hillendale CC David was hired as the Spray Technician at Baltimore Country Club. David was hired as an Assistant Superintendent at The Suburban Club in 2016. In his free time David enjoys hiking with his wife, Jen, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, watching dirt track racing and iRacing.

Garrett Young

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Garrett joined The Suburban Club Green Department team in 2023. He hails from Iowa where he worked on golf courses for seven years and was drawn to the art of turfgrass maintenance. He earned his Associate in Applied Science in Horticulture with Turfgrass Concentration from Des Moines Area Community College. Garrett continues to hone his agronomic and management skills at the Club and enjoys computer coding in his free time.

Jane began her role as Horticulturist at The Suburban Club in 2023. She brings 30 years of horticultural passion to make The Suburban Club shine its brightest in every season. With a focus on sensory-rich designs and care for the natural environment, Jane's landscapes will permeate your senses and lift your spirits.

John Francisco

Title

Assistant Golf Professional

John is a golf professional who turned pro in 2024. He began playing junior golf in the Baltimore and Dulles area, and quickly made a name for himself by winning the 2014 MAPGA Jr. Player of the Year award. He went on to win the MAPGA Jr. Tour tournament at The Suburban Club for three consecutive years. In 2023, he ranked in the top ten at the West Virginia State Open and fired a course record 64 in the 3rd round of the West Virginia state amateur at The Greenbrier Resort (Meadows Course). John worked at The Club at Cress Creek for eight years and also spent a year as an assistant at Woodholme County Club. He will begin his PGA affiliate program here at The Suburban Club.

Kobe Pinsky

Assistant Golf Professional

Kobe began his golfing career by competing in the PGA Junior League, where he developed a strong passion for the game and gained valuable experience. While attending Towson University, he worked at Hayfields Country Club for three years, furthering his skills and deepening his knowledge of the golf industry. He later joined The Suburban Club, where he continues to grow his career as a dedicated and aspiring golf professional.
